Fall Farmhouse Front Porch Inspiration
Fall Farmhouse Decor Inspiration
I know I’ve mentioned this a time or two before. But if you’re talking about ‘the dream’ for Rob and I, it’s a large wrap around farmhouse front porch that overlooks some land, my dogs, and maybe even some cows. (It’s now our 10 year goal!) While our current super small front porch isn’t necessarily fitting of that description, I’ve been determined to make it a cozy spot that makes our entire home look warm and inviting from the outside. With your front porch being the first thing someone sees when they approach your home, I’m a firm believer that it’s definitely a spot that shouldn’t be overlooked when decorating – no matter how small it is.
I started decorating our home for fall back in August, but I showed some real restraint for switching up the decor on our front porch. Whether it was because I was waiting for it to officially be fall or because no one in their right mind was selling mums and pumpkins yet, I’ll leave that one up to you to guess. (Hint: It was the latter.) After planting our mums and hunting for the perfect pumpkins for a few weeks (before the mums would inevitably die), we finally got lucky. There were some embarrassing squeals, and I just about bought out the whole stand at Publix. Is anyone else as obsessed with ugly pumpkins as I am? As much of an oxymoron it is, I find them so cute!

Fall Farmhouse Front Porch
While I have a huge love for the neutral fall decor inside my home, I wanted to change it up for our front porch this year. Rather than stick with the white and green heirloom pumpkins, I wanted to embrace the natural colors of fall with our pumpkins and mums. I hope you’ll be inspired to do the same after reading this post!
I got our mums from Home Depot, and planted them in their inexpensive clay pots that I spray painted black to give them more of a black-metal-planter look. At first, I was a little sad that my Home Depot didn’t have any larger white mums and ended up settling for colors. However, I now actually love how it turned out looking with the different colors mixed together. So far, this brown thumb hasn’t killed any of them off yet. But, you should ask me again how they’re doing at the end of the season.
As I mentioned above, I found these heirloom pumpkins at a Publix a couple towns over after searching for a couple weeks searching around our area. (With plenty of weird looks as I went into places who didn’t have them yet!) Now not only is it pumpkin season, but it is also how-long-can-I-keep-my-dogs-from-eating-them season. Once again, ask me how they’re doing at the end of the season. We can’t even check the mail without Beaux and Willie thinking they’re giant tennis balls. We have some teeth marks, big and small, but no major tragedies yet.

Cozy Fall Front Porch
When it comes to styling spaces, I always start with my large base pieces first and then add in the accessories. Our bench was actually our housewarming gift from my grandparents, and they got it from Hayneedle. (I even was able to put it together myself!) We paired it with a more modern and fun round side table from Home Depot that I then can top with cute decor accessories as the seasons change. For fall, I topped it off with a small white mum in a black painted clay pot and mini heirloom pumpkins.
To finish the space off and give it all the cozy fall vibes, I made some a cover for an old pillow out of some old gray curtains and threw in a knit blanket to add in some texture. I’ll be sharing a tutorial on how to make your own later this week on the blog, so stay tuned! Now all I can think about is cuddling up on this bench with my pumpkins on a crisp fall morning with my coffee in hand. A girl can dream, right?
I hope you enjoyed our cozy fall farmhouse front porch as much as we do! Tell me, how are you decorating your front porch for fall? Are you in love with ugly pumpkins as much as I am? Leave a comment below!
