Easy Ways to Refresh Your Home For Spring

Spring Home Refresh
While the first day of Spring may not be for a few more weeks, I’ve already been getting in a Spring state of mind. To be completely transparent, I’ve been in the Spring state of mind since January. Since putting Christmas and winter decor back into the attic, I have been working slowly each week on refreshing my home and getting it ready for a new season ahead.
Refreshing your home for Spring goes so much further than what you may consider traditional Spring cleaning — and today on the blog I’m super excited to share with you some easy ways you can refresh your home in the coming months!
Easy Ways to Refresh Your Home For Spring
Refreshing your home for Spring is so much easier than you may think. If decorating in pastels with ceramic bunnies and easter eggs all over your house isn’t your thing, that’s okay! (And if it is your thing, that’s okay too!) Regardless of what your thing is, here are some easy and relatively inexpensive things that you can do to welcome in the season of renewal and refresh your home this Spring.
Ruthlessly Declutter and Organize
In my own home, Spring cleaning goes so much further than just a deep clean of my home. After putting away the Christmas and winter decor, I love to take this time of year as an opportunity to ruthlessly declutter and organize different spaces throughout my house. It’s crazy how much stuff we accumulate over the course of just a year!
Right now, I’m currently going room by room and doing a little bit at a time to keep it more manageable and less overwhelming. I’m not ‘Marie Kondo-ing’ my home by any means. However, I take the opportunity to reassess, clean out, and donate what I no longer am in need of. Because it involves cleaning things out and moving things around, decluttering and organizing really is the easiest way to make your home feel refreshed as you move into a new season. I take it as an opportunity to switch up my decor, move furniture, and do any outstanding projects that I’ve been meaning to get done. You’d be surprised how much of a difference it can make!
House Plants and Florals (Whether Fresh or Faux!)
I giggled while reading a trend forecast for 2020 the other day – because they had an entire article on the ‘House Plant Movement’. If you want to see what I mean, all you have to do is open Pinterest or Instagram. Houseplants are all the rage right now, and the insides of some homes are beginning to look like greenhouses. I mean, Martha Stewart even has an article on her website that’s titled, “Many Millennials Are More Stressed About Their Houseplants Than a Root Canal.”
Spoiler alert: We worry and stress a lot about keeping them alive. Which is an extremely valid point – because I get super sad sometimes that I can keep my little family alive but somehow kill every indoor plant that I am in charge of.
All jokes aside, I think incorporating house plants and florals is a super easy way to refresh your home while bringing spring touches inside (without even really having to decorate for Spring!) It’s also a really easy way to add personality and trending style into your home with a variety of planters that can enhance your decor style.
However, don’t get discouraged if you’re like me and can’t keep real houseplants alive. I am the queen at decorating with faux floral around my home. It has the same look and the same effect when done right, and I can’t kill it. (Sounds like a win to me!) Not only is it extremely low maintenance, but I can also reuse, repurpose, and reinvent looks season after season (and year after year) on a budget. Decorating with faux floral the right way is a lot easier than you may think. Make sure to read my tips for decorating with faux floral post before you head down to your local craft store!

Refresh Your Textiles — Add Pops of Color!
Another super easy way to get your home in the Spring state of mind is to refresh your textile and, if you’re not against it, add pops of color! By this, I mean to take this opportunity to invest in some new accent throw pillows and throw blankets to brighten up and refresh your living room. Meanwhile, you can also refresh your dining room with new table runners or napkins for a fresh and new look. For instance, in my own home I added in some yellow geometric throw pillows (paired with neutrals) to brighten up my living room and tie into our new artwork. You can see what I mean with our DIY Sheet Music Feature Wall that I did.
Great seasonally trending colors and patterns for throw blankets and throw pillows can be found at places like Target and TJMaxx / Homegoods for great deals, so I consider refreshing your textiles an easy way to freshen up any space really any time of year. You’d be surprised what a couple new throw pillows and blankets can do to transform the look of your living room.
Artwork, Signs, and Vintage Botanical Prints
Seasonally inspired artwork and signs as well as vintage botanical prints are a super simple way to bring spring into your home and refresh a space. Like refreshing your textiles, they can really transform a space and make it look like new. Especially if you are on a budget, they are the easiest way to decorate your home for the different seasons without having to invest in a lot of additional decor — because of how easily they can be changed out for the seasons.
For example, in the Spring I really love displaying vintage botanical prints in my kitchen to help brighten up and add life into the space.
Not only do signs and artwork add your personality and heart into your home’s decor, I feel like they can make a huge impact on the look and feel of a space. From my dining room scrolls and my chalkboard wall in my breakfast nook to the newest artwork feature wall I have put up in my living room, I have found that these things really help me make my home my own and put my heart on display for anyone who comes inside.

Don’t Be Afraid to Pick up a Paint Brush!
Sometimes when a space needs a little refresh or a makeover, you can’t be afraid to pick up a paint brush or a drill and get to work! After completing my DIY Entryway Makeover from a couple weeks ago, it really just goes to show that something as simple as a can of paint can really transform spaces in your home on a budget. The best part? Painting really is so easy, and I think anyone could do it!
Even if you’re not up for doing a huge feature wall, that’s okay! Even if it’s as simple as re-finishing a piece of furniture with chalk paint to give it a new life, painting picture frames to create a cohesive looking gallery wall, or even really just touching up the paint you already have on your walls, paint is such an easy way to refresh your home and make it feel just like new. With how easy and inexpensive it is, there’s really no excuse to not pick up a paint brush and put your mark on your home.
